Tobacco-Free Campus
Effective May 1, 2016, Abbeville General Campuses will be 100% Tobacco-Free, Smoke-Free. Tobacco use in any form, including non-FDA-approved electronic nicotine delivery devices (electronic smoking devices) are not allowed anywhere on AG Campuses. The AG Campus has been defined as: hospital owned or controlled buildings, grounds, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots. This policy also includes all hospital vehicles and equipment. This policy applies to all individuals working, visiting, or receiving medical care within the boundaries of Abbeville General Property, including vendors and contractors. The sale of tobacco and/or non-FDA-approved electronic nicotine delivery devices shall be prohibited throughout the hospital campus.

Smoking Cessation classes are offered through AG for no charge to employees. Any employee who would like to know more about smoking cessation courses offered by AG can contact the Social Services Department.

A court-established and court-supervised smoking cessation program to benefit Louisiana residents who began their smoking habit before September 1, 1988. QuitWithUsLA provides free counseling, education, resources, etc. to anyone who began smoking prior to that date.

The Smoking Cessation Trust is a court-established and court supervised smoking cessation program to benefit Louisiana residents who began their smoking habit prior to September 1, 1988. Members will receive any of the following cessation services at no cost: cessation medications, individual/group cessation counseling, telephone quit-line support, and/or intensive cessation support services.

This program is committed to research-based strategies for tobacco prevention, control and awareness in order to empower citizens to make healthy lifestyle choices to create a tobacco-free Louisiana. This is a program of the Department of Health and Hospitals Tobacco Control Program.

An adaption of the American Lung Association’s gold standard, group clinic, the online program is specifically designed for adults who want to quit smoking.
